Woman Gets Probation in Funds Theft

URBANA -- An Urbana woman was ordered to serve three years probation Friday after she admitted to stealing more than $4,000 from the city pool, when she was the manager there.

Neddra Armstrong, 48, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of theft, a fifth degree felony. Authorities said in 2010, she stole $4,230 from the pool by shuffling financial statements and pocketing cash. Armstrong also was ordered to serve seven days in the Tri- County Jail, serve 80 hours of community service, pay a $250 fine, and repay the money that was stolen.
