Re "School plan falling apart," March 18: Due to unexpected competition from charter schools, the visionary members of the Dayton school board have now learned they cannot build eight of the 34 schools they had planned to construct to reinvigorate the Dayton school system. They earned this after prodding the public to pass a substantial property tax increase to help pay for the new construction.
Can we taxpayers now expect to receive a reduction in the property tax rates, as a result of the cutback in construction costs? Or will the savings in construction costs be diverted to other "necessary programs," such as additional luxury upgrades to the Dayton school board's new administration building?See the full content of this document
