Summary
DAYTON -- Hopefully it wasn't the last middle school track championships for Dayton Public Schools. But after the failure of a levy earlier this month, the 11-team meet held at Welcome Stadium may be the last middle school athletic activity for the foreseeable future. The Dayton Board of Education has said cutting all middle school athletic activities is part of the money-saving package it will adapt. So track could be gone. Wilbur Wright was the overwhelming boys team winner at the recent middle school track meet, with 178 points to 53 for Cornell. Stivers won the girls title with 98 to 96 for Wilbur Wright. Shaun Mays and Antonio Blanks were top point producers for Wilbur Wright. Mays took first place in the 100 (11.7 seconds), 200 (24.6) and 400 meters (56.6). Blanks also tripled in the 110 (15.8) and 200 (26.1) hurdles, as well as the high jump (5 feet). Janaye Scott of Wilbur Wright was the only triple winner for the girls in the 100 (13.1), 200 (27.6) and long jump (14-9).
Shanice Jackson of Fairview doubled in the 800 (2:57.9) and 1,600 (7:09).See the full content of this document
