Understanding the River

Summary


The walls of the classroom became grassy, tree-lined banks. The ceiling cleared to reveal the sun shining through breaks in the clouds. The floor dissolved, and the students found themselves floating along with the current of the Great Miami River.

For 31 honors students at the University of Dayton last week, the river became their classroom, subject and mode of transportation as they undertook a five-day study of the river and Miami Valley water system.
