CONCORD TWP., Miami County -- Miami County Fair organizers hope new midway games, added concessions and a beefed-up entertainment schedule will boost attendance when the 159th edition of the fair kicks off Friday.

The 2005 attendance of 83,180 was down from 105,997 in 2004 and 107,000 in 2003, said Dianna Medley, fair treasurer. Fair organizers blamed gas prices and heat, at least in part, for last year's decline.
