TROY -- If you live in the Troy school district, you'd better check your paycheck stub. Your employer should have been withholding the district's new 1.5 percent earned income tax, beginning Jan. 1. "It would be in everyone's best interest to check," said Gary Gudmundson of the state Department of Taxation.
According to the tax department, it is an employer's responsibility to know which school districts employees live in. It is the employee, however, who is ultimately responsible for the tax, Gudmundson said.See the full content of this document
