Summary
TROY -- A condemned building at 14 W. Canal St. will come down after a split city planning commission Wednesday approved its demolition.
Noting a proposed $150,000 fix-up approved in June for the former Montgomery Printing building had failed to move forward, the planning commission voted 4-2 to proceed with demolition. Jim Dando, the city's planning and development director, said the city will notify the property owner, Tom Cairns, to clear out the 133-year- old building, which could be razed by the end of November. Dando said the cost of demolition -- expected to exceed $10,000 -- would be paid by the city, then assessed to Cairns.See the full content of this document
