GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Ted Ginn Jr. had a premonition before the opening kickoff of the BCS championship, chirping to teammates that he felt he was going to go the distance with it. But he couldn't have foreseen the mishap awaiting him in the end zone. After stunning Florida with a 93-yard return, the Ohio State junior was trampled by his fellow Buckeyes in the giddy aftermath. Ginn said he felt something snap in his foot, and he appeared for just one more series before limping to the locker room. Asked about the irony of getting knocked out of the national championship by his own teammates, Ginn said, "It's a crazy little deal." After getting an X- ray -- Ginn said there was no break -- he returned to the bench on crutches and did what he could to provide support. "I tried to be a leader on the sidelines," he said after the 41-14 pummeling by the Gators. "You're seeing things on the sidelines and trying to relate to the coaches and the players what was open, what's not." Ginn would have needed a fertile imagination to find much of anything open. "They were swarming, they were hitting, they were playing their game," he said of the Gators. How much did the absence of their leading receiver contribute to the Buckeyes' demise?
"It's hard to quantify it with a point total," junior receiver Anthony Gonzalez said. "Any time you lose one of your main guys, it's going to be a blow to your offense, especially one as explosive as Teddy. But that's not the only reason we lost."See the full content of this document
