It started a few months before, when I got a call from Tom Bankston, the general and artistic director of the Dayton Opera. He asked whether I'd be willing to emcee the Opera's May program, "Opera Goes to the Movies," in which four soloists sang arias from famous operas that have been used by Hollywood over the years.
