Just what our world needs, another magazine aimed at young, contemporary women. Pretty soon it's going to come to a choice between buying magazines and buying the stuff advertised in them -- can't always do both.

New on the stands is Suede, billed as new fashion and beauty magazine for the young, contemporary woman of color, brought to us by the publishers of Essence. The premiere issue, featuring Alicia Keys, is more than likely off the stands by now to make room for the winter issue and Eve, the "gorgeous multi-hyphenate entertainer" and her fabulous tattoos. (She's in a new movie, The Woodsman, with Kevin Bacon, thereby connecting him by degrees to every person in the entire universe.)
