Summary
On May 19, elementary students gathered at Dunbar High School to compete in the district's 2005 Lucia Mae Wiant speech contest. Each contestant had taken first place in his or her school's competition. The annual contest is named after the first speech specialist in the Dayton school district.
District grade-level winners in grades two through four were: first, Desiree McDermott, Patterson-Kennedy Elementary School; second, Desirae Green, McNary Elementary School; and third, DeAngelo Wright; Allen Elementary School.
