It's hard to believe that it's only been in the past 10 years or so that the "information superhighway" re-routed the way people communicate.

And it was with great flourish that various governmental agencies rolled out their first Web sites. But the early software was often not user-friendly for either the user or the Web designer, and most communities just assigned the duties to an employee already coping with a full workload.
