DAYTON -- Dayton's Allen and Edison elementary schools will close this fall as part of the city school district's cost-savings plan. Fairview Middle School will be phased out. More changes could come by week's end. Superintendent Percy Mack said Allen's students will be reassigned to the school closest to their homes, as the school at 132 Alaska St. will be shuttered.

Edison's students and staff will be relocated intact to Fairview Middle School, where Edison will operate next year while the building at 228 N. Broadway St. will be shut down.
