A WIN-WIN: GIFTS FROM WE CARE ARTS
There are lots of good reasons to do your holiday shopping at We Care Arts, the organization that "turns disabilities into possibilities through art." The gift shop is stocked with jewelry, decorative objects, ornaments, handpainted wood items -- all lovingly produced by the organization's clients who receive a percentage of the profits for the items they make and the healthy dose of self-esteem that comes from selling their wares. Featured artist this year is Kathleen Rose Lorring, who says she feels "less isolated by her illness" because of the freedom that comes from creating art. Among Lorring's items are a bracelet of Swarovski crystals that comes in various colors to denote different forms of cancer ($35) and a beaded watchband that can be matched with various watch faces. The shop is at 3035 Wilmington Pike, Kettering. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (937) 252- 3937. Web: www.wecarearts.org.See the full content of this document
