KETTERING -- School and court officials are still trying to determine how to respond to an accidental shooting at Van Buren Middle School on Friday.

Tom Saylor, a seventh-grade social studies teacher at Van Buren for more than eight years, was demonstrating how long it takes to load a muzzle-loaded rifle as part of a Civil War lesson. The rifle had a bullet in it, which pierced a construction trailer more than 500 yards away.
