DAYTON -- Small cottage homes, doubles ransacked by renters or left vacant by owners -- finding ways to make these character- filled structures desirable in today's real estate market have been a challenge for Dayton's Historic South Park neighborhood.

A group of more than 100 residents, with guidance from the Dayton Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, plus a local developer, brainstormed solutions to adapt and restore these homes.
