PITTSBURGH -- When a team is entrenched in a five-game losing streak, the last thing it wants to do is spot a team a six-run lead in the first inning -- sort of like spotting Barbaro a six-length lead out of the gate in the Preakness.

That's what the Cincinnati Reds and pitcher Dave Williams did Thursday afternoon in PNC Park, but they lived to not only laugh about it, but to celebrate the conclusion of that five-game losing streak, a 9-8 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates that won't be listed under "P" for pretty, but will go under "F" for finally.
