Summary


The mono-types done by the late Kay Smith of Oakwood were based on her love of the outdoors, especially birds and flowers. She painted with oil on glass; then transferred the image to rag paper.

"Usually, it's possible to pull only one or two good prints with this technique before destroying the image on the glass," said her husband, artist David L. Smith. "Due to the change in color and texture, the second print will have little resemblance to the first. Kay always enjoyed the color and line achieved in this manner."
