Potholes are popping up as the Dayton area enters a midwinter thaw, with high temperatures expected to hover near 40 today, Jan. 14, and for the next several days.

Dayton Public Works Director Fred Stovall said he believes additional potholes will cause problems next week as the warmer temperatures cause asphalt to expand. For that same reason, he also anticipates an uptick in water main breaks next week.
