PIQUA -- For Della Emerick, it's not about the accomplishment, it's about the attempt.

The Piqua senior swims both the 500-yard freestyle and 200 individual medley and is one of the Indians' team captains. Her time in the pool is a pleasure, but her event times are not her priority. Emerick swims for both the Indians and the Piqua YMCA Marlins, but finds the most satisfaction swimming as a volunteer for the Special Olympics.
