Southwest Ohio schools have saved millions in the past decade by combining purchases and winning more competitive prices from vendors. With fuel prices climbing, school officials are looking for new ways to ease the financial burden of busing.

Ken Swink, of the Southwestern Ohio Educational Purchasing Council, said his group is discussing finding a method to consolidate member district's fuel purchases to win better prices at the pump.
