DAYTON -- There is biblical significance to the fact that Barack Obama was elected as the first black president of the United States in 2008, 40 years after the assassination of Martin Luther King in 1968, according to Cynthia Willard-Lewis, keynote speaker at the MLK Interfaith Prayer Breakfast on Friday, Jan. 16.

Willard-Lewis, a member of the New Orleans city council, pointed out that Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness and Israelites spent 40 years wandering the desert before reaching the promised land.
