MASON -- The last letter Ted Middleton wrote to his family arrived in Mason after his death. The 1967 Mason graduate was a member of an air mobile unit fighting in Vietnam.

In the letter, the 19-year-old told his family that he's always in the helicopter, but gets one hot meal a day, so it's not so bad. When he gets out of the helicopter, he gets fired at, he wrote.
