DAYTON -- A multi-pronged approach is needed to prevent overcrowding at the Montgomery County Jail and stop the routine practice of sending prisoners to other jails, according to a group that met Thursday.

County officials discussed the problem with representatives of the criminal justice system, including judges, public defenders, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and probation and pre-trial services workers.
