A consortium of at least 19 independently owned Dayton-area restaurants will launch a marketing campaign today in an effort to protect their customer base from the recent influx of chain restaurants -- and to introduce themselves to potential new patrons.
"With their marketing dollars, the chains are just beating the heck out of everybody," said Tony Spaziani, owner of Villa di Giovanni in Fairborn. "We've got to get people to realize we're different.
