LANSING, Mich. -- So dominant in the second half, it seemed inconceivable that the Dayton Dragons, the team with the best overall record in the Midwest League, would be exiting the playoffs in the first round.

A best-of-three series minimizes advantages, however, and the Dragons' season indeed ended Saturday with a 4-3 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts in Game 3 at nearly-empty Cooley Law School Stadium.
