DAYTON -- Lt. Kevin Daniel Quinn answered his last alarm on top of Engine No. 17, the truck he commanded for many of his 25 years of countless fire and medic calls as a member of the Dayton Fire Department.

At a sober pace, the truck and its police escort traveled along Far Hills north into the city Wednesday morning. At Stewart Street, the Engine 17 passed by 23 Dayton fire units parked on either side of the street. Each unit of crews saluted as the engine, draped in black bunting and bearing Quinn's coffin, passed them.
