KETTERING -- A year of transition for Kettering police continued Dec. 15, when the city celebrated the promotion of six officers, in part to fill the positions of four longtime officers and leaders who are retiring this winter.

Capt. Dave Woolf, Lt. Jim Knickle, Sgt. Dave Senkowski and Patrolman Mike Pittman will retire by January through the deferred retirement, or DROP, program. The four have spent a combined 140 years with Kettering police.
