LEBANON -- A Warren County judge and lawyers sifted through more than 60 candidates on Monday before selecting a jury for the criminal trial of former Springboro police Lt. Jim Barton, alleged to have hired those responsible for the sexual assault and shooting death of his wife almost a decade ago.

Barton, 49, called 911 on April 11, 1995, to report his wife, Vickie, 40, had been killed at their home on a horse farm in Franklin Twp. Last April, he was charged with complicity to involuntary manslaughter, complicity to aggravated burglary and complicity to burglary after a yearlong cold-case investigation by detectives from Warren and Montgomery counties. No one else has been charged.
