JEFFERSON TWP., Montgomery County -- The Ohio Department of Education will announce this morning that Jefferson Local Schools will no longer be considered under "fiscal emergency" because of the district's efforts to improve its finances.

While Jefferson will pay off its remaining debt in the coming months, Superintendent Richard Gates said it took just over two years since his arrival to eliminate $1.8 million in debt.
