DAYTON -- Paula Schaeffer realized she'd lived a sheltered life "when all that civil rights stuff turned up in the '60s."

"I'd never known a black person in my life so I joined the Urban League," the 90-year-old woman told the 800 patrons gathered for the 12th annual Women of Influence Awards Luncheon at the Dayton Convention Center on Thursday, March 19.
