'05 Inflation Outpaced Wages ; Skyrocketing Energy Prices Hurt the Working Man

DAYTON -- Wage and benefit increases paid to workers across the country last year were not enough to keep up with inflation and represented the smallest increase in nine years, the U.S. Department of Labor reported on Tuesday.

That came as no surprise to people who are contending every day with higher prices for gasoline and other forms of energy, increased prices at retail stores and bigger co-pays for health insurance coverage.
