I failed -- again. I couldn't stump Angelo Pizzo. Moments after I posted a trivia question on my blog -- "Ludwig At Large" -- good ol' "AP" fired off the correct answer. Question: Kansas, led by Danny Manning, upset No. 1 Oklahoma in the 1988 NCAA title game, 83-79, at Kemper Arena in Kansas City. Can you name Oklahoma's starting five? Angelo's answer: "Harvey Grant, Dave Sieger, Stacey King, Mookie Blaylock and Ricky Grace. What do I win?" It's a surprise, and it won't be revealed until it arrives at his Bloomington, Ind., home. Hint: It's a memento from his favorite NFL team, the Chicago Bears. I've used that trivia question on many friends, and the response is always the same. They're quick to remember Blaylock, King, Grant and Grace, but Sieger escapes them. I loved that guy because he was a good ball handler, defensive gem and the Sooners' top 3-point sniper.
