Summary


Auto theft in Dayton decreased in 2010 while the rate of stolen vehicles in Springfield increased, according to a report from the Ohio Insurance Institute.

In 2010, Dayton ranked No. 138 on a national list of 366 cities with the number of car thefts standing at 1,683. Statistics reported by the institute show the number of thefts has decreased gradually each year. In 2008, the number of reported thefts was 2,485 and in 2009 the number was 1,752.
