Auto theft in Dayton decreased in 2010 while the rate of stolen vehicles in Springfield increased, according to a report from the Ohio Insurance Institute.
In 2010, Dayton ranked No. 138 on a national list of 366 cities with the number of car thefts standing at 1,683. Statistics reported by the institute show the number of thefts has decreased gradually each year.
