Air Force to Re-Evaluate Bids for $15 Billion Rescue Helicopter Contract

The Air Force will re-examine bids submitted by Boeing Co., Lockheed Martin Corp. and Sikorsky Aircraft Co. for a $15 billion contract to provide a new combat and search helicopter, rather than reopen the competition to new bidders, an Air Force spokesman at the Pentagon said Wednesday.

That would mean the Air Force's options would include selecting one of those three bidders or, conceivably, some combination of them, said Maj. Aaron Burgstein, a spokesman for Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne. The Air Force is still evaluating how to proceed and there has been no final decision, Burgstein said.
