DAYTON -- Mirroring a nationwide trend, newly released FBI data showed violent crime increased by 6.4 percent in the city of Dayton during the first six months of 2006. The preliminary crime data released Monday show homicides and robberies continued to rise across the country during the first half of this year, on pace for an increase in violent crime for the second straight year.
The nationwide 3.7 percent uptick in violent crime between January and June comes amid a still-incomplete Justice Department study of 18 cities for clues on why criminal activity is increasing.See the full content of this document
