Years ago, popular diets claimed that the ticket to weight-loss success was to eat low-fat or no-fat foods. In place of fats, we began over-consuming carbohydrate calories in the form of fat-free cookies, cakes, chips, ice cream, crackers and more, counting fat grams rather than the number of calories eaten.

The result? Weight gain.
