DAYTON -- Dayton police officers are used to helping others, but the family of one officer was facing overwhelming difficulties until offduty co-workers and firefighters joined together to help them out.

Scott and Katy Kingery had hoped to move their three children into the new house they'd had built last October. Then, their 9- yearold, Courtney, was diagnosed with a life-threatening aplastic anemia that required a bone marrow transplant at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati.
