DAYTON -- Dayton Power & Light Co. expects to bring the last two of newly installed air pollution control units into operation by the end of May to finish a program to reduce emissions from its coal- fired electricity generating plants, the company's top executive said Wednesday, April 23.

The $600 million program to install the emission-removing scrubbers at DP&L's Stuart and Killen generating plants is the biggest environmental project in the company's history, Paul M. Barbas, president and chief executive officer of the utility and its owner, DPL Inc., told shareholders at their annual meeting. The company has said the program is necessary in order to comply with federal clean-air law.
