Edwards Comes Up Short On Final Play

Summary

CLEVELAND -- It wasn't a good weekend for receiver Braylon Edwards. Saturday, his University of Michigan Wolverines lost their showdown with Ohio State. Sunday, his Browns squandered a late lead and lost to the Steelers, 24-20. So he was a bit miffed in the postgame locker room when asked if he thought he should have caught Charlie Frye's last-play heave into the end zone. Edwards, who caught seven passes for 137 yards, got his hands on the ball in a crowd but couldn't come down with it. "Make up what you want to make up. Whatever sounds good," Edwards snapped before uttering an expletive and leaving the room. After the final play, tight end Kellen Winslow II walked over to console Edwards, who also had his hands on a "Hail Mary" at the end of the first half. "He shouldn't take it hard at all," Winslow said. "I just said it's going to be all right, we're going to be all right, man. Just get ready for the Bengals (next week), keep your head up. You know, that type of stuff, just trying to be a teammate. "It's hard, because we're inches away from winning. We're in every game. This team has a bright future. We've got a lot of talent, a lot of heart."
