MORAINE -- DPL Inc.'s new top executives got a polite reception Wednesday in their first formal meeting with shareholders, who nonetheless peppered them with pointed questions about the controversies that have rocked Dayton's electric utility for more than two years.

At DPL's long-overdue 2004 annual meeting, several shareholders took directors to task for allowing ousted executives Peter H. Forster, Caroline E. Muhlenkamp and Stephen F. Koziar Jr. to reap huge rewards amid failed investments, a plunge in the stock price, shareholder lawsuits and credit rating downgrades.
