Several school districts in the Miami Valley earned higher grades than last year on state report cards, with Preble and Warren County schools reporting some of the strongest gains. Dayton's improvements, meanwhile, were not enough to keep it out of the bottom of statewide report card rankings.
A few more local districts reached the top grades of "excellent" or "effective" -- 39 of 60 districts in a seven-county area this year, up from 36 last year, according to the Ohio Department of Education.See the full content of this document
