DAYTON -- A purchase of Dayton Power and Light Co. by American Electric Power could be a boon to investors in both companies, and may even mean lower electricity bills for DP&L customers, utility industry observers said Friday.

But they cautioned that such a merger is a long way from reality, despite AEP Chief Executive Michael Morris' statement Thursday that he'd be interested in buying DP&L under the right conditions.
