CENTERVILLE -- Writers are encouraged to capture the spirit of Erma Bombeck by submitting an entry to the ninth annual Erma Bombeck Writing Competition, sponsored by Washington-Centerville Public Library in conjunction with the University of Dayton.

Last year, the competition drew more than 1,200 entries from 19 countries and 48 states.
