The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has identified three counties in the Dayton area -- Greene, Montgomery and Warren -- as failing to meet new federal air quality standards for fine particles that can worsen lung diseases.
The new standard, part of the evolving National Clean Air Act, is designed to protect the public from exposure to tiny airborne particles that are 2.5 microns or smaller -- or about one-third the thickness of a human hair, said an EPA statement released Tuesday, Aug. 19.See the full content of this document
