BUTLER TWP., Montgomery County -- Butler Twp. has gradually shifted to a B.Y.O.G. (Bring Your Own Gun) policy for police officers -- using money they had invested in buying and maintaining guns to buy other equipment.

Capt. Carl Bush said the department has been offering officers the choice of choosing their own gun or having one issued for several years -- and most prefer to pick their own.
