KETTERING -- Standing on East Stroop Road across from Robertann Drive where they reside, Maureen Fischer and her daughter, Anna, who turns 9 on Wednesday, anchored the east end of a 1,900-person demonstration against abortion Sunday that stretched west from her shoes to Far Hills Avenue.

Anna sat in the warm grass of the tree lawn in front of Assembly of God Church, 2250 E. Stroop Road, while from 2 to 3:30 p.m. her mother held up a printed sign to hundreds of vehicles that passed the annual corridor of people that calls itself Miami Valley Chain of Life.
