DAYTON -- A panel of Ohio reporters Friday tried to pry Ohio's two U.S. Senate candidates away from issues they've emphasized throughout the campaign -- trade and national security -- to talk about issues they've stayed relatively mum on during what may be one of the closest Senate races in the country.

In the second of four scheduled debates between U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown, D-Avon and U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, panelists from the Dayton Daily News, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, The Columbus Dispatch and Ohio Public Radio and Television generally veered away from national security and the war in Iraq.
