All candidates were asked to answer this question: Within the context of the elected office you are seeking, what is the most important issue facing your community and what would you do to address it?

Vickie Giambrone*

Facebook: Vicki-Giambrone Bio: Vicki is a hospital vice president with over 30-years of experience along with an extensive community service record. As a current council member, she adds strong business management, and planning skills to the community she has called home for 20 years.

Answer: Like most cities, Beavercreek is facing a significant decrease in funding. Our council and staff have been diligent in cutting costs and finding efficiencies over the past two years. We will have to continue to investigate every opportunity to further cut costs, partner with others and identify new revenue sources to maintain the current level of services. We must be open to new ideas and be willing to compromise to continue to meet the needs of our community.

Melissa Litteral

Bio: For the past 17 years, she has worked for Greene County, where she currently serves as the director of Adult Probation.

Melissa is a two time graduate of the University of Day-ton. She has a master's degree in public administration, where she concentrated her studies on budget and fiscal administration.

Answer: The decrease in local government funds along with other taxes at the state level will decrease general operating funds over the next two years and beyond. If elected to council, I would work to assist the city manager in determining the best way to maintain the level of service our citizens currently receive by supporting the merging of some positions by attrition -- not layoffs -- and working towards a park district with Beaver-creek Twp., which would have a significant savings for both the...
