DAYTON -- Veterans of past wars and troops on active duty were honored as brothers in arms for the cause of freedom Saturday morning during a Memorial Day weekend service at the Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission.

Reading aloud a memoir by Andy Rooney about hitting the beach in southern France four days after D-Day, June 6, 1944, Al Dunn, 84, choked back tears and stirred the audience, too.
